Owning a home near economic activity centers is increasingly becoming a consideration for people when choosing housing, since beyond price, location, accessibility, and distance to the workplace also determine whether a home can be owned and comfortably occupied in the long term.
This trend is reflected in the growing interest in housing in Jakarta's satellite areas. Research by Indonesia Property Watch released in early 2026 shows Bekasi is among the cities most sought after by homebuyers throughout 2025, as affordable housing options in Jakarta become increasingly limited.
A similar trend appears in 123 PropInsight data, which analyzed demand for landed houses in Bekasi based on actual inquiries on the Rumah123 platform from April 2025 to June 2026. The analysis shows a demand base from industrial area workers, particularly in the Cikarang-Cibitung corridor, as well as commuters who need access to Jakarta.
The growth of industrial areas and economic centers is making the need for housing close to the workplace increasingly relevant. For workers, proximity of housing to activity centers relates not only to distance, but also to travel time and daily transportation costs.
Cikarang is one of the main areas in Jakarta's Eastern Corridor with a high concentration of industrial and economic activity. This condition creates housing demand among people who work and carry out their activities in the area and its surroundings.
"In choosing housing, people certainly don't consider price alone. Location, access to the workplace, and the ability to manage installments in the long term are also important factors. That's why we see housing in Jakarta's Eastern Corridor as increasingly relevant for the public," said Indra Azwar, President Director of PT Mahkota Sentosa Utama, the developer of Meikarta, in Cikarang on Thursday.
To make it easier for people who want to own a home in Jakarta's Eastern Corridor, Meikarta offers installment options starting at around Rp1.7 million per month, flat until fully paid.
The fixed installment scheme provides certainty on the payment amount, allowing prospective owners to better estimate their expenses. This way, people can plan their installment payments while also managing other household needs in the long term.
The actual installment amount varies depending on the unit chosen, the down payment, the tenor, and the results of financing evaluation and approval.
"We want to offer an option that's easier to plan for people who want to own housing in an area close to economic activity centers. Installments of around Rp1.7 million, flat until fully paid, are expected to make homeownership planning more manageable," said Indra.
Growing interest in the Bekasi area shows that the decision to own a home increasingly weighs the balance between price, location, and daily needs. For people working in the Cikarang industrial area and its surroundings, living closer to activity centers can help reduce travel time and costs.
Meikarta sees this condition as an opportunity to offer choices for people looking to move from searching for a home to owning one.
"Homeownership isn't just about buying a unit, but also about choosing a place to build a life. That's why we want to make it easier for people to own housing close to economic activity centers through an installment scheme that's easier to plan for," said Indra.
Located in Cikarang, with installment options starting at around Rp1.7 million per month, flat until fully paid, Meikarta offers a housing alternative for people who want to live closer to economic activity centers in Jakarta's Eastern Corridor.
