Marking its 28th anniversary, PT Gowa Makassar Tourism Development Tbk (GMTD) once again reaffirmed its commitment to continuously providing benefits to the community and the environment through a series of Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities.
Carrying the spirit of continuing to grow together with the community, the series of CSR activities for GMTD's 28th anniversary was carried out through various initiatives as an implementation of the group framework titled "Lippo Untuk Indonesia PASTI," with its five pillars, Pintar (Smart), Asri (Green), Sejahtera (Prosperous), Tangguh (Resilient), and Independen (Independent), touching on aspects of education, social welfare, health, and environmental care. These programs are part of GMTD's commitment to creating sustainable contributions within the community, particularly around the company's operational areas.
One of the activities carried out as an embodiment of the Pintar pillar was the handover of assistance in the form of 84 sets of benches and chairs to SD Inpres Barombong 2. This educational facility assistance was handed over directly to the Principal of SD Inpres Barombong 2, Muhammad Firdaus, on Wednesday, August 12, 2026, in front of students and teaching staff. This assistance is expected to help create a more comfortable and conducive learning environment for both students and teaching staff, given that the existing bench and chair facilities were no longer adequate.
In addition to its support for education, GMTD also provided support in the health sector through the Tangguh (Resilient) pillar. Previously, on Tuesday, August 11, 2026, at the Atrium of GTC Mall, GMTD held a blood donation drive and health check-up event in collaboration with the Makassar City PMI (Indonesian Red Cross) and the Maccini Sombala Community Health Center, carried out consistently with direct community involvement. The activity was joined by 169 registrants and successfully collected 134 bags of blood. Participants also received free health check-ups, including blood sugar, uric acid, and cholesterol screenings. This activity was part of the series of celebrations for GMTD's 28th anniversary and the 81st anniversary of Indonesian Independence, themed "Kita Sehat, Kita Merdeka" ("We Are Healthy, We Are Free"), serving as a momentum to invite all employees and the general public to jointly share and provide benefits to others through humanitarian action.
"As we turn 28, we want to make this momentum not only a celebration of the company's journey, but also an opportunity to share and provide real benefits to the community. Through the various CSR activities we carry out, GMTD hopes to continue to be present, contribute, and grow together with the community," said Jemmy Andreas Persang, Chief Operating Officer of GMTD.
This series of CSR activities also reflects GMTD's 28-year journey, which has been inseparable from the support of various stakeholders, from the community, government, and business partners, to all employees and communities around the Tanjung Bunga area.
For GMTD, corporate sustainability is not only about business achievements, but also about how the company can create shared value for the community and the environment. Because of this, CSR programs will continue to be developed to become increasingly relevant to the community's needs and to provide a positive, sustainable impact.
With this 28th anniversary commemoration, GMTD hopes that the spirit of sharing and care embodied through its various CSR activities can continue and remain part of the company's journey to provide its best contribution to Makassar and the people of South Sulawesi.
